The Rainbow Mountain Tour 1 Day

The Vinicunca or Rainbow Mountain tour en Cusco

The mountain of colors, called by the local people Vinicunca (vini; colors and cunca; colors), is located south of the city of Cusco, in the Cordillera of the Peruvian Andes, in the province of Canchis, district Pitumarca.

For more than 15 years, this entire area was under snow, a permanence hidden in time, as well as from the sight of human beings. Due to global warming, this area has been affected by the sun, and thanks to the thawing snow, it has been discovered by hikers on the Ausangate trekking route, which is very close to this mountain. It is so thanks to the photographs taken and the diffusion of the internet, this place has been visited and today, is the second most visited place in the city of Cusco, after Machu Picchu.

The coloration of the mountain is due to the geological formation, the mixture of water and minerals that give it a tonality of different colors such as red, green, purple, pink, and other variations that give the natural magic to this place.

If Machu Picchu is beautiful for being a human creation, the mountain of colors is more beautiful for being a natural creation, without the participation of the hand of man.
